Podma nodir majhi by Manik Bandopadhyay is one of most famous books of Manik Bandopadhyay.He was a Bengali writer and is viewed as one of the main lights of present day Bengali fiction. Amid a short lifespan of 48 years, tormented at the same time by disease and budgetary emergency, he created 36 books and 177 short stories. His essential works incorporate Padma Nadir Majhi (The Boatman on The River Padma, 1936) and Putul Nacher Itikatha (The Puppet's Tale, 1936), Shahartali (Suburbia, 1941) and Chatushkone (The Quadrilateral, 1948). Manik Bandopadhay was conceived on 19 May 1908 in a residential community called Dumka in the region of Santal Parganas in the condition of Bihar in India. His genuine name was Prabodh Kumar Bandhopaddhay. His nom de plume was gotten from his pet name 'Manik'. He was the fifth of the fourteen youngsters (eight children and six girls) of his guardians, Harihar Bandopadhyay and Niroda Devi. His dad Harihar was an administration authority who traversed unified Bengal regarding his employment.
